Qi Jia to not represent China in Miss Universe 2023 contest, here's why

Miss Universe 2023, which is scheduled for November 18 in El Salvador’s José Adolfo Pineda Arena, will not have Qi Jia, the Chinese representative. 

Taking to the Instagram, the Miss Universe China official page posted, “The Miss Universe competition areas will take place from November 15 to 18. The organizing committee and the champion, Ms. Jia Qi, applied for visa procedures as soon as her coronation was announced and actively prepared for the world finals, however, due to the delay in issuance, she flew to El Salvador as soon as the visa was granted and he lost more than a week of activities, which made it impossible for him to compete in this year’s international event.”  

The 72nd edition of Miss Universe is scheduled to take place from November 15-18.  

The organisers have announced that China would be represented in the Miss Universe 2024 competition the following year by the 2023 Miss Universe China!  

The event will be hosted and presented by TV personalities Jeannie Mai Jenkins and Maria Menounos. 

What sets this year's pageant apart? 
This Miss Universe pageant will focus on progress and inclusivity. Maria Camila Avella Montañez from Colombia and Michelle Cohn from Guatemala will be the first mothers and married women to compete in the pageant. Rikkie Valerie Kollé from the Netherlands and Marina Machete from Portugal will be the second and third trans women to take part in Miss Universe.
