Hollywood Star Nicolas Cage in Discussions for HBO's "True Detective" Season 5

Los Angeles, Aug 22 (PTI) — Nicolas Cage, a prominent figure in Hollywood, is currently in discussions to headline the renowned HBO crime anthology series "True Detective" for its fifth season.

While specific details about the forthcoming season remain under wraps, Francesca Orsi, HBO's Head of Drama Series and Film, hinted to entertainment news outlet Deadline earlier this year that the new season will be set in New York's Jamaica Bay Area.

Each season of "True Detective" introduces audiences to a new ensemble cast set against a different backdrop, focusing on detectives tackling a significant and complex case.

If Cage's involvement is confirmed, he will portray the central character Henry Logan, a detective from New York at the heart of this season's intriguing plot.

Previous seasons of "True Detective" have featured major film stars such as Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the series' inaugural season in 2014, and Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams in the 2015 second season.

The third and fourth seasons have been fronted by two-time Oscar winners Mahershala Ali and Jodie Foster, respectively.

The series has been honored with two Emmy Awards, the newest of which went to Foster for Outstanding Lead Actress for her performance in 2024's "True Detective: Night Country."

Cage, also an Academy Award-winning actor, is celebrated for his diverse and extensive career, featuring memorable works like "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Adaptation."

More recently, Cage has appeared in several independent films, including the comedy-drama "Dream Scenario" and Osgood Perkins' "Longlegs."

In addition, Cage is currently engaged in Prime Video's upcoming series "Noir," which presents Spider-Man Noir, allowing him to further expand his impressive repertoire.
