Monalisa Bhosle, a 16-year-old from the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, who gained national attention as the viral girl of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, is once again making headlines.
This time, it's because she has signed on for the film The Diary of Manipur. The movie, written and directed by Sanoj Mishra, is the latest project from the filmmaker known for his previous work The Diary of West Bengal.
Mishra made a special visit to Monalisa’s home to offer her the role, sharing this news on his Instagram account.
Monalisa, who has been selling flowers in Maheshwar, Khargone, since childhood, is about to take her first step into the film industry. It has been revealed that shooting for The Diary of Manipur is set to begin in February.
Sanoj Mishra’s visit to Monalisa and her family to discuss the project was an important moment, but details of their conversation have remained private. Neither Mishra nor Monalisa have disclosed any specifics about what was discussed during the visit.
Known for selling rudraksha garlands at Kila Ghat along the Narmada River, Monalisa first became an internet sensation after a content creator spotted her during the Maha Kumbh. Her captivating eyes and natural charm quickly drew attention, making her a viral star.
Her newfound fame, however, has brought mixed reactions—while it boosted her popularity, it also shifted the focus of her business as people now approach her for selfies instead of purchasing garlands. Despite this, Monalisa returned to her home in Maheshwar after the media frenzy subsided.
