The controversy over the dalit wedding episode in ‘Made in Heaven 2’ is taking new turn every day. Now, Alankrita Shrivastava, one of writers and directors of the show, has shared that the episode was shot in 2021 and she had met author Yashica Dutt in 2022, implying that she never used her life as inspiration for the story.

Alankrita took to social media platform X and wrote, “The Pallavi Menke story was shot in October 2021. I went to New York in July 2022”.

Yashica Dutt, the author of 'Coming Out as Dalit' has demanded that she be credited by the makers in the Amazon Prime Video show as they have used her life and work as a source of inspiration for the episode.

Alankrita's tweet came after Yashica claimed that she came to meet her in 2022 and asked her detailed questions about her life. Yashica added that Alankrita did not reveal at any time that she was using her life for research.

After Yashica demanded credit, the show’s makers issued a statement saying that they “categorically deny any claim that Ms. Dutt’s life or work was appropriated by us.”

Yashica called this “denigrating, hostile statement that not only contradicts what Neeraj Ghaywan posted on his Instagram post but also attempts to openly discredit my work.”
