Seoul, Aug 5 (PTI) Acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong is making a highly anticipated return to directing after an eight-year hiatus with "Possible Love," a new project set to premiere on Netflix.
This film marks Lee's first endeavor since the critically acclaimed 2018 film "Burning" and offers an intriguing narrative that explores the intertwined lives of two married couples, each leading strikingly different lives. As their paths converge, the drama delves into themes of love, conflict, and the subtle unraveling of ordinary existence, according to a press release from Netflix.
"Possible Love" boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring some of South Korea's most renowned actors. Jeon Do-yeon will portray Mi-ok, with Sul Kyung-gu as her husband Ho-seok. The roles of the second couple, Sang-woo and Ye-ji, will be played by Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, the latter known for her role in "Parasite."
The project sees Lee reuniting with screenplay writer Oh Jung-mi, who previously collaborated with him on "Burning."
The film is being produced by Pinehouse Film in collaboration with Anonymous Content and NOWFILM Co Ltd and will be distributed by Netflix.
Lee Chang-dong has established a remarkable niche in international cinema, having directed globally celebrated films such as "Green Fish" (1997), "Oasis" (2002), and "Poetry" (2010). His accolades include winning the Silver Lion for Best Direction at the Venice Film Festival for "Oasis" and securing the Best Screenplay award at Cannes for "Poetry."
