Shillong, July 24 (PTI): The renowned Meghalaya filmmaker, Pradip Kurbah, has achieved a significant milestone, as his forthcoming film, "Moon," has been chosen for the prestigious Asian Project Market (APM) at the 2025 Busan International Film Festival.

Selected from a remarkable pool of 455 submissions spanning 44 countries, only 30 projects were given the nod for this honor at APM, regarded as Asia's largest co-production and financing platform. Kurbah remarked on this achievement, expressing his gratitude.

"Moon" emerges as a collaborative venture involving Kurbah Films, Hello Meghalaya, and Shiven Arts. The project has been granted formal production approval by Hello Meghalaya, a state-level OTT initiative. Kurbah announced with enthusiasm, "I'm thrilled to share that our latest endeavor 'Moon' has been officially selected for the Asian Project Market (APM) in Busan! It's a heartfelt collaboration between Kurbah Films, Hello Meghalaya, and Shiven Arts."

He further extended his appreciation to the APM team, notably thanking Hello Meghalaya for their steadfast support and Shankar Lall Goenka of Shiven Arts for his invaluable partnership.

The cast for this intriguing film includes talents like Albert Mawrie, Merlvin Mukhim, Anvil Laloo, Jeetesh Sharma, and Baia Marbaniang, with auditions for additional roles soon to be announced. Filming is slated for winter to align with the film's atmospheric tone, crucial to the storyline.

The screenplay, co-written by Kurbah and Paulami Dutta, delves into themes of emotional isolation, guilt, and resilience, using the moon metaphorically—as something "visible only through reflected light"—to explore the power of connection and empathy in fostering healing.

Producer Shankar Lall Goenka, known for the acclaimed movie "Iewduh," reunites with Kurbah for this project. The pair has previously garnered international recognition for showcasing narratives from Meghalaya. "Moon" marks Kurbah's second selection for APM, following "Ha Lyngkha Bneng" in 2020.

Kurbah's illustrious career includes winning the Kim Jiseok Award at Busan in 2019, and he recently bagged Best Film and Best Director at the 2025 Moscow International Film Festival.

The eagerly anticipated 2025 Asian Project Market is set to take place from September 20 to 23 at BEXCO, Busan.
