Song Kang will host Mnet’s upcoming girl group survival show 'I-LAND Season 2', ahead of his military enlistment.

The South Korean actor will play a storyteller in the show as reported by Sports Kyunghyang on March 11. The report says that the 'Sweet Home' franchise star will host the new survival show.

Soompi quoted the actor saying, “I’m happy to be a part of the start of the journey in which a new artist is born as the Storyteller of ‘I-LAND.’ I will do my best to deliver a new story to viewers."

The actor will start his mandatory military service in April. I-LAND Season 2 will be his final project before his military enlistment.

About the show

While first season of I-LAND featured 23 male contestants competing to get into the HYBE label’s new boy band, the second season involves the making of a new girl group. Finalists Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki from the first show formed the K-pop band Enhypen.

Season 2 will release on April 18, 2024 and will be a collaboration between YG Entertainment producer Teddy and his label, The Black Label.

Song Kang is known for popular Netflix hits 'Sweet Home', 'Nevertheles's and 'My Demon'.
