Queen of Rom-coms, Park Min Young has found herself amid big controversy. According to a report released by ‘Dispatch’, the South Korean actor received a huge sum of money from her controversial ex-boyfriend, Kang Jong Hyun. The actor is accused of receiving about $190,000 USD while dating her ex and then lying about the same.
The ‘Dispatch’ report suggests that the money was transferred to the actors’ personal account through a 3-step process. The actor who had claimed that she was not aware of the wrongdoings of her ex, was quizzed in February 2023. The authorities had questioned her about the utilization of her account by her ex.
Park Min Young's agency Responds
Responding to the controversy, ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’ actors’ agency released a statement, denying any wrongdoing. The actor has denied receiving any kind of funds from her ex. Her agency said, “The 250 million won mentioned in the article is only in Park Min Young’s account used by Kang Jong Hyun and was not used for her living expenses.” The agency further said, "Park Min-young has been refuting these rumors for more than a year and has been widely misunderstood. She has faced criticism, expressed regret, and reflected on the situation. As an actress, the only thing she can do is show good acting through her works. We hope that there will be no more unfounded suspicions that can damage Park's reputation."
Backlash to 'Marry My Husband'
The controversy has affected her ongoing K-drama ‘Marry My Husband’ after the massive online criticism. While the actor is receiving support from her loyal fanbase in Korea and across the globe, there are many who are criticising her. A section of Netizens called for the boycott of Park Min Young’s show.
