Ahead of DRIPPIN's much-anticipated comeback in April, the group's lead singer, Joo Changuk, has announced a brief hiatus owing to health concerns. According to a statement released by the K-pop boyband's agency, Woolim Entertainment, Joo is slated to go on a temporary break following his diagnosis with a respiratory-related illness, which requires him to temporarily halt his professional activities. DRIPPIN will continue the group's promotions as 5-members.

'He needed enough rest'

Fans have been eagerly awaiting DRIPPIN's comeback since their last single, Seven Sins, dropped a year ago. While teasers for their return have ignited a fan frenzy, Woollim Entertainment, the agency representing the South Korean group, has sparked a wave of concern among the group's followers. It revealed that following a hospital visit due to deteriorating health conditions, Joo Changuk was diagnosed with a respiratory illness, due to which medical professionals recommended the idol temporarily pause his activities and prioritise his health.

Sharing the statement in X, the agency wrote, “First, we would like to thank the fans who always give generous love to our artist, DRIPPIN. We are informing you about the future activities of DRIPPIN JOO CHANGUK. JOO CHANGUK visited the hospital due to his poor physical condition and underwent a thorough examination while preparing for the next album. He decided to stop all his schedules and focus on recovery following the medical staff’s recommendation that he needed enough rest for the time being due to respiratory disease.”

“Therefore, DRIPPIN’s activities will be conducted as a five-member group for the time being. Information on joining the schedule will be provided later, and we will do our best to ensure JOO CHANGUK’s quick recovery and stability. We apologise for causing concern to many fans with sudden news and ask for understanding,” it concluded.

About DRIPPIN

DRIPPIN burst onto the K-pop scene in 2020 with their EP, 'Boyager'. However, last year, Alex parted ways with the group, terminating his exclusive contract with Woollim Entertainment. After Alex's exit, Drippin continued their activities with six members, including Hwang Yunseong, Lee Hyeop, Joo Changuk, Kim Dongyun, Kim Minseo, and Cha Junho.
