Los Angeles, Aug 13 (PTI) Angelina Jolie is poised to reunite with Doug Liman, the director of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, for an exciting new spy thriller titled “The Initiative”, to be produced by Universal Pictures.
The screenplay is penned by F Scott Frazier, known for his work on action-driven spy thrillers like “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” and “Collide”, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Described as a revered crime thriller a la “Training Day”, “The Initiative” is set in the realm of espionage. Jolie will star as Bright, a headstrong spy who takes on the role of mentor to novice Charlie. The storyline takes a dark twist as Charlie begins to question Bright's motives and mental state.
Reuniting with producers Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum from “Maleficent”, Jolie will collaborate with RK Films. Known for their versatile productions, RK Films has been the creative force behind Netflix's “Damsel” and the Glenn Powell-starring “Anyone But You” in recent years.
Jolie, acclaimed for her prolific career, last appeared in the 2024 biographical drama “Maria”.
