Los Angeles, Sep 3 (PTI) Actor Jason Segel, celebrated for his role in the iconic sitcom "How I Met Your Mother," has joined the esteemed cast of "Anxious People." This much-anticipated production features Angelina Jolie and Aimee Lou in leading roles.
According to Deadline, a prominent entertainment news source, the upcoming film adapts Fredrik Backman's 2019 novel of the same name. The movie is helmed by director Marc Forster, recognized for his work on "Stranger Than Fiction" and "World War Z," with a screenplay penned by David Magee.
"Anxious People" intricately weaves the tale of Zara, portrayed by Angelina Jolie, an investment banker who begrudgingly mingles with an eclectic group of strangers at an open house on the eve of Christmas.
The plot takes a turn when a hesitant bank robber inadvertently takes the group hostage, leading to a chaotic exchange where secrets unravel, and nothing unfolds as planned.
The book had previously been adapted into a Netflix series, released in 2021.
Production of the film is steered by Fredrik Wikstrom Nicastro under the Hope Studios banner, in collaboration with Renee Wolfe from 2DUX.
Looking ahead, Jason Segel is set to star in "Over Your Dead Body" alongside Samara Weaving. Directed by Jorma Taccone, this film is a reinterpretation of the 2021 movie "The Trip" and is produced under 87North Productions, XYZ Films, and Resolute Films.
