New Delhi, Sept 4 (PTI) In a groundbreaking move, Women in Film (WIF) India, supported by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, unveiled the country's first-ever women-led delegation to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

This initiative, facilitated by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and endorsed by Waves Bazaar, the ministry's premier global markets platform, drew over 200 applications in just one week.

From this impressive pool, six projects led by women occupying pivotal creative roles have been selected to represent India at TIFF, which begins today and continues until September 9.

The selected films include Arshaly Jose's "A Dandelion’s Dream," Deepa Bhatia's "Rabbit Hole," Katyayani Kumar's "Sons of The River," Madhumita Sundararaman's "The Guest House," Paromita Dhar's "Ulta," and Pramati Anand's "A Late Autumn Dream."

According to a statement by WIF India, "This Ministry-supported program will offer international exposure, mentorship, curated networking, and training in pitching and dealmaking, fostering long-term opportunities for Indian women filmmakers to gain global collaborations, funding, and distribution."

Women in Film is a worldwide network of organizations committed to advancing the careers and representation of women in the screen industries. WIF India, the local chapter, strives to mentor, exhibit, and create opportunities for women filmmakers on international platforms.

The final selection was made by a distinguished international jury of producers, cultural leaders, and industry experts, who bring experience from Academy Award–winning films, global film markets, and women's advocacy in cinema.
