New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) The 2025 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) kicked off with immense excitement, graced by renowned personalities such as Aamir Khan, Vir Das, and Tillotama Shome.
This illustrious event also saw the participation of Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari, along with esteemed filmmakers Shoojit Sircar, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Tanushree Das, R.S. Prasanna, and Mukesh Chhabra.
The festival's much-awaited Opening Night Film, "Baksho Bondi," directed by Das, set a remarkable tone for the event.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Aamir Khan, the chief guest at the festival, remarked, "It’s great to be here in Melbourne. I’m elated to be part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It’s a great initiative of cinema that brings people and cultures together. I’m certain the films and the filmmakers who are showcasing at the festival will have a great experience."
Festival director Mitu Bhowmik Lange highlighted that IFFM serves as a confluence for awe-inspiring stories, exceptional talent, and a mutual passion for cinema that surpasses borders. "The presence of so many eminent guests, coupled with the enthusiastic support of the Victorian Government, makes this year’s festival not just a cultural celebration, but also a bridge that strengthens the ties between India and Australia," she noted.
The 16th edition of IFFM is scheduled to take place from August 14 to August 24.
