Will Smith has talked about how the Oscars slap incident affected his personal life. While promoting historical drama ‘Emancipation’ on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, he called the Oscars a ‘horrific night’  

Talking about the incident, Will said, ‘I was gone. That was a rage that had been bottled for a really long time. My nephew is nine. He is the sweetest little boy. We came home. He had stayed up late to see his uncle Will and we are sitting in my kitchen and he is on my lap and he is holding the Oscar and he is just like, ‘Why did you hit that man, Uncle Will?’ 

At the 94th Academy Awards, Will slapped Chris Rock on the stage. when the comedian joked about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith bald look. Will had won the award for Best actor that night but after the incident, he was banned by the Academy.  

Will’s new film ‘Emancipation’ depicts the real-life story of a slave named Jordan who was popularly known as Whipped Peter. The film got postponed due to the Oscars controversy. It was to release this may.
