In some exciting update for the fans of TV series ‘The Office’, a spinoff of the show has been confirmed. The new series has been picked by NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock.
The new comedy series will be set in the same universe as ‘The Office’, however, the title of the series is yet to be decided. Greg Daniels, who led the American adaptation of ‘The Office’ and Michael Koman, known for ‘Nathan for You’ are the creative minds behind the new series.
Despite being set in the same universe, the untitled spinoff will follow the documentary crew on their next project. Peacock which has picked up the new comedy series, has already announced the main cast. A press release by Peacock said, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.
So far, only two cast members have been announced. ‘About Time’ and ‘Ex Machina’ fame Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, known for her role in ‘The White Lotus’, will headline the new series. With the two familiar stars, the team is set to introduce a new cast of characters to make the audience laugh.
The release date of the new show is still under wraps, however, we do know that the filming of the series will begin in July.
