American singer Madonna has postponed her world tour after spending several days in the intensive care unit (ICU) with a serious bacterial infection.
According to her manager, the global popstar's health is improving but she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
In a statement on Instagram, he shared, ‘On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU.’
‘At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows,’ he added.
Madonna, 64, was expected to launch her 84-date tour in July.
Madonna’s last Instagram post was on June 20. Ironically, it is captioned ‘the calm before the storm’, which she may have referred to the upcoming tour.
Madonna's ‘Celebration Tour’, was scheduled to begin from July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, followed by two dates in Seattle starting on July 18.
Over several decades, Madonna has delivered many great hits - including ‘Into The Groove’ (1985), ‘Like A Prayer’ (1989), ‘Vogue’ (1990) and ‘Hung Up’ (2005) to name a few.
