Singer Lizzo responded to ‘South Park's mention of her in their special episode about weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro. She shared her thoughts on social media, expressing her feelings about being referenced by the long-running animated series.

‘Guys, my worst fear has been actualized. I’ve been referenced in a South Park episode. I’m so scared,’ she said in a video posted on Instagram.

In the episode, Cartman learns about a weight loss drug, but his insurance won't cover it and his mother can't afford it. However, the doctor suggests a new medication called Lizzo.

‘FDA-approved Lizzo makes you feel good about your weight, and it costs 90% less than Ozempic. … In case studies, 70% of patients on Lizzo no longer cared how much they weighed,’ the voiceover in the fake commercial for the drug said on the show.

‘Lizzo helps you eat everything you want and keep physical activity to a minimum,’ it added.

Following the parody, Lizzo said, ‘That’s crazy. I just feel like, damn, I’m really that b----'.

She added, ‘I really show the world how to love yourself and not give a f--- to the point where these men in Colorado know who the f--- I am and put it on their cartoon that’s been around for 25 years.’

Representatives for Lizzo and Paramount did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

The episode aired during a period of heightened interest in drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, fuelled by celebrities and influencers who claim to have used them for rapid weight loss.

Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, is renowned for advocating body positivity in her music and online presence. In the episode, Cartman's doctor described her as ‘a very good singer who promotes body positivity and being content with your appearance.’
