Johnny Depp’s first film in four years, ‘Jeanne du Barry’ set to make digital debut

Johnny Depp is back on big screens after a hiatus of four years. His latest French film, ‘Jeanne du Barry’, made its world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2023. The film is now all set to reach a larger audience with a digital release. 

‘Jeanne du Barry’ digital release 

It is the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star’s first film since his infamous trial against Amber Heard. The historical romance drama features Depp in the role of French King Louis XV and his mistress, Jeanne. 

‘Jeanne du Barry’ will be available for rent or purchase from May 21 on different digital platforms including AppleTV + and premium video on demand. The film is yet to be added to Prime Video. 

‘Jeanne du Barry’ which also marks Depp’s French debut has premiered in only limited-release theatres since May 2.

Johnny Deep starrer ‘Jeanne du Barry’ follows the story of Jeanne du Barry, the illegitimate daughter of a courtesan. Jeanne uses her charms and intelligence to climb the social ladder step by step, becoming one of King Louis XV’s favourite. 
The film has been directed, written and produced by Maïwenn who was inspired by her fascination with the character from the film Marie Antoinette and also plays the lead role opposite Depp.
