Ice Spice is set to unveil her upcoming album, ‘Y2K’, on July 26, 2024, named after her birth date of January 1, 2000. During a recent Entertainment Tonight interview at the BET Awards, she hinted at exciting collaborations on the album. Fans were particularly intrigued by speculation about a possible team-up with Taylor Swift, with whom Ice Spice previously collaborated on the remix of Taylor's track ‘Karma.’
In her interview with Entertainment Tonight, the singer reaffirmed her earlier hint about ‘crazy collaborations’ on her upcoming album. While she didn't disclose names yet, she confirmed there are multiple collaborators involved.
‘There's a couple. That's all I can say,’ she shared with ET.
Regarding fans' speculations about Taylor Swift's potential feature on the album, Ice Spice responded, ‘I don't know, we'll have to wait and see.’ She kept the possibility open without confirming or denying Swift's involvement.
The artists collaborated in 2023, and Swift has been a strong supporter of the rapper since then.
When asked about the inspiration behind her upcoming album, she pointed to the 2004 Versace gown she wore at the awards evening and exclaimed, ‘Like, are you kidding me? This is the inspiration right here.’
In a Spotify audio snippet from 2023, Taylor explained how their collaboration on the remix version of Ice's song came about. Ice Spice's team initially approached the Folklore singer about the possibility of working together. Being a fan of Ice Spice's Grammy-nominated music, Taylor eagerly accepted the opportunity. ‘So I immediately got her number and said, 'Hey, would you want to do your version of 'Karma'? Do you relate to this?' So she jumped in headfirst,’ Taylor recounted, and the rest is history.
Ice Spice is also gearing up for her Y2K world tour in anticipation of her album release.
