Jamie Dornan, known for his role in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, had a major health scare during a recent vacation in Portugal. It was all fun for the actor and his friends until toxic caterpillars entered the scene. Jamie and his friend Gordon Smart came across the toxic caterpillars, leading to the symptoms resembling a heart attack.
Recounting the experience on BBC, Jamie’s friend Gordon Smart said that they had an amazing time during the vacation, however, the following day took a drastic turn as he along with Jamie suffered heart attack like symptoms.
Once discharged from the hospital, Gordon found out that Jamie was still connected to medical equipment. He shared, “Jamie said, ‘Dear me. Gordon, about 20 minutes after you left, my left arm went numb, my left leg went numb, my right leg went numb, and I found myself in the back of an ambulance,’ Anyway, as he left the hospital, the paramedics asked them for a selfie, which is really what you want when you’re being wheeled out of a hospital room.”
As the duo was discharged from the hospital, the doctors explained the cause of their symptoms. Gordon said, “It turns out that there are caterpillars on golf courses in the south of Portugal that have been killing people’s dogs and giving men in their 40s heart attacks. It turns out we’d brushed up against hairy processionary caterpillars and have been very lucky to come out of that one alive.”
Both the actor and his friend have recovered since then. Jamie Dornan, however has not opened up publicly about the harrowing experience.
