Oprah Winfrey delivered a powerful speech at Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night. She called upon Americans to choose joy and to choose Kamala Harris for President. Here are some excerpts of her fiery speech.
Oprah paid tribute to Tessie Provost Williams, one of the “New Orleans Four,” who died last month. Prevost Williams was one of four Black girls who helped integrate the city’s public schools in 1960.
She also took the opportunity to take a swipe at Vance’s ‘Childless cat lady’ comment. She said, "We are not so different from our neighbors when a house is on fire. We don't ask about the homeowner's race or religion. We don't wonder who their partner is or how they voted. No! We just try to do the best we can to save them. And if the place happens to belong to a childless cat lady. Well, we try to get that cat out too."
She urged the fellow Americans to use common sense over nonsense and truth. Winfrey closed with a resounding shout of “Let us choose Kamala Harris!”
