Carl Weathers dies at 76; Sylvester Stallone and others pay tribute

Hollywood action and comedy movie star Carl Weathers has passed away at the age of 76.  

Deadline outlet quoted his family in a statement saying , "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers." 

The statement also added, "Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations." 

He was recently seen in "Star Wars", its spin-off series "The Mandalorian.” He also earned an Emmy nomination for this role. 

The actor is popular for playing Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" franchise. He was also seen in ‘Predator’ opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger. The actor also gave his voice for the character of Combat Carl in 2019's "Toy Story 4."  

Sylvester Stallone reacted to Weathers' death on his Instagram saying, “We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keep punching.”
