'The Big Bang Theory' star Jim Parsons has teased a 'Young Sheldon' cameo in the finale. In an episode of Today, the actor shared his joy of reprising his iconic role in the spin-off series. Parsons has narrated 'Young Sheldon' for its entire seven-season run, however, it's the first time he will star in the show.
“[It was] very weird [but] also very beautiful,” he began. "The Big Bang Theory was always a live-audience show and Young Sheldon is a single-camera show, and I got to do it with Mayim – we both played Sheldon and Amy from the series.
“To do it in that situation, it was just different enough that it wasn't creepy. Like going, 'What are we doing here again?!' Instead, it was really sweet. It felt like the nicest little coda to the whole experience, and I was very grateful that they asked us to do it.”
Even though 'Young Sheldon' might be coming to an end soon, The Big Bang Theory universe will live on thanks to the announcement of a spin-off series that will centre on Sheldon's older brother Georgie (played by Marilyn Jordan) and soon-to-be wife Mandy (Emily Osment).
“From The Big Bang Theory to Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us. We're very excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy,” said creator Chuck Lorre of the new project.
The final episode of 'Young Sheldon' will air on May 16.
