Mumbai, Sep 4 (PTI) Director G Ashok, inspired by Kamal Haasan’s 1987 classic "Pushpak" and renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan, is set to release his new film "Ufff Yeh Siyapaa," which he labels as a dialogue-free comedy.

The storyline follows Kesari Lal Singh, portrayed by Sohum Shah, who faces chaos when his wife, Pushpa (played by Nushrratt Bharuccha), suspects him of flirting with their neighbor, Kamini (Nora Fatehi). The situation spirals out of control when a misdelivered drug parcel leads to a cascade of mishaps, climaxing with a dead body appearing in his home, according to the official synopsis.

Ashok emphasized that even though the movie features 22 characters, it’s not a silent film. Background elements, like a radio, contribute audible components to the movie. "Inspired by ‘Pushpak’, our movie doesn’t employ dialogues but relies heavily on expressions. The title ‘Ufff’ is an expression, while ‘Siyapaa’ denotes fun. Our narrative is rich in music, conveying every emotion through its tunes," Ashok explained in an interview with PTI.

Known for his work on Anushka Shetty’s "Bhaagamathie" and Nani's "Pilla Zamindar", Ashok aims to incorporate the essence of Priyadarshan's cinematic style, crafting characters that echo everyday lives.

"This film mirrors Priyadarshan’s approach—characterizing relatable figures like neighbors, beggars, and lovers. His characters, like those in ‘Hera Pheri,’ have always been cherished by audiences. Similarly, I hope that viewers will relate to the characters in ‘Ufff Yeh Siyapaa’," Ashok noted.

Ashok, primarily known in the Telugu film industry, shared that his film "Durgamati" (2020), featuring Bhumi Pednekar, was initially intended to be his second Hindi venture.

"‘Ufff Yeh Siyapaa’ was supposed to debut first, but we wrapped up ‘Durgamati’ ahead of time and commenced shooting this during the COVID-19 pandemic," he added. He expressed a keenness to produce more Hindi films.

Praising Sohum Shah, Ashok remarked on his admiration for Shah’s performance in the 2018 horror fantasy "Tumbbad", which led to their collaboration on this film. "I met Sohum some years back, shared this concept, and he immediately agreed to be involved. My other stars, Nushrratt and Nora, also delivered exceptional performances," he remarked.

Produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, "Ufff Yeh Siyapaa" will be released in theaters on September 5.
