New Delhi, Aug 25 — Kashmiri actor-activist Farhana Bhat, widely recognized for her roles in Bollywood hits like "Laila Majnu" and "Notebook," has joined the roster of contestants for the popular reality TV show "Bigg Boss 19."

Known for her fearless opposition to terrorism in Kashmir, Bhat kickstarted her acting career in 2016 with the comedy-drama film "Sunshine Music Tours and Travels." Her most recent cinematic venture is the 2023 film "Country of Blind," directed by Rahhat Shah Kazmi.

Well-wishers from the Valley have shared their admiration for Bhat, noting how she embodies a refreshing image of Kashmiri youth—educated, courageous, peace-loving, and unafraid to challenge injustices.

"Bigg Boss", an adaptation of the international series "Big Brother," features contestants who cohabit a shared house, isolated entirely from the outside world. Throughout their stay, they engage in various tasks and face nominations for elimination.

The 28-year-old actress joins a lineup of 15 other contestants, including prominent names like Amaal Malik, Zeeshan Quadri, Pranit More, Gaurav Khanna, Awez Darbar, Nagma Mirajkar, Abhishek Bajaj, Mridul Tiwari, Neelam Giri, Kunickaa Sadanand, Ashnoor Kaur, Nehal Chudasama, Tanya Mittal, and Baseer Ali.

Hosted by the iconic Salman Khan, the latest season made its debut on JioHotstar on August 24.
