New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) Popular series "Only Murders in the Building" is set to return for its fifth season on JioHotstar, debuting on September 9. The announcement came from the streaming platform on Tuesday. The show sees actors Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez reprising their roles as Charles Haden-Savage, Oliver Putnam, and Mabel Mora—neighbors in a New York City apartment complex who become amateur sleuths, solving murder mysteries while recording a true crime podcast.

"Your favorite trio is coming back for another case! #OnlyMurderersintheBuilding streaming Sept 9 onwards on #JioHotstar," the OTT platform revealed via its official Instagram account.

Season five, which was renewed in September 2024, follows the trio as they delve into the murder of their cherished doorman, Lester (played by Teddy Coluca), who dies under mysterious circumstances. Refusing to accept it as an accident, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel investigate, leading them into the darker parts of New York City, revealing a web of secrets involving powerful billionaires, the old-school mob, and the enigmatic residents of the Arconia.

The trio's investigation reveals a city in turmoil, split between its historic roots and a new era of crime, where the old mobsters struggle to maintain control against newer and more dangerous forces.

The upcoming season will also see the return of Michael Cyril Creighton, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind, and Nathan Lane. Guest stars will include Bobby Cannavale, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Tea Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler.

Created by Martin and John Hoffman, "Only Murders in the Building" is executive produced by Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, and J J Philbin, and is produced by 20th Television.
