Los Angeles, Aug 18 (PTI) – Corey Mylchreest, known for his role in "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," recently shared his experience auditioning for the role of Flynn Rider in Disney’s planned live-action remake of "Tangled." However, he was not cast because the production required an actor with singing experience. The film project's announcement came last year, but production was halted following the underwhelming box office results of Disney's live-action "Snow White," starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.
The film "Snow White," directed by Marc Webb, was released in March and did not perform as expected, leading Disney to announce a pause on "Tangled" in April. Mylchreest, 27, humorously recounted in an interview with Seventeen Magazine, "I think I can say this now because I don’t think it’s happening anymore, but I auditioned for 'Tangled.'" He added with a touch of jest, "We don’t have the footage anymore. I deleted it, then burnt it, burnt the phone I filmed it on, and finally, burnt the room where I did it. And then I burnt myself...They then told me they wanted someone with singing experience."
Despite the setback, Mylchreest joked that he felt he was "born to play" Flynn Rider, and perhaps the film’s delay was due to his not being cast. The live-action "Tangled" was intended to adapt the popular 2010 animated film, itself based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale "Rapunzel." Michael Gracey, renowned for directing "The Greatest Showman," was set to direct the remake.
