Vicky Kaushal's highly anticipated period drama "Chhaava" is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on February 14, and the film is generating considerable buzz, promising a strong box office debut.
The cast and crew of the film have made significant efforts to ensure that their remunerations align with the budget, enabling more resources to be dedicated to the film's production.
The film's budget stands at a reported 130 crore, with the lead cast's total salary comprising just 13-14% of this amount. Leading the cast, Vicky Kaushal portrays Sambhaji Maharaj, charging a fee of 10 crore—a sum that accounts for nearly 7% of the entire budget, mirroring his fee for "Sam Bahadur", as per DNA report.
Co-star Rashmika Mandanna, despite the success of her film "Animal," has kept her fee constant at 4 crore, the same amount she received for her previous project with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Akshaye Khanna, meanwhile, has opted for a pay cut compared to his role in "Drishyam 2." Despite receiving 2.5 crore for his last project, he has accepted a 2 crore remuneration for his antagonist role in "Chhaava." In contrast to his previous co-star Ajay Devgn's larger paycheck, Khanna's earnings are one-fifth of what Vicky Kaushal is making for this upcoming film.
Additionally, Ashutosh Rana has been cast as Hambirrao Mohite for 80 lakh, while Divya Dutta will portray Rajmata Soyarabai Bhosale for a fee of around 45 lakh.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, "Chhaava" appears committed to investing its resources primarily into the film’s production, a strategy that could pay off at the box office.
