Will Anushka and Virat's son 'Akaay' be a British or an Indian citizen? Here's the answer

Cricker Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma recently announced the news of their newborn baby boy 'Akaay'. According to the reports Anushka gave birth to Akaay in London, which left netizens wondering whether he will be a British citizen or an Indian citizen. 

As per the report by Sports Tak, their son will not inherit British citizenship due to his alleged birthplace, London. The child can only become a British citizen if one of their parents is British or has been living in the UK for a long time and has obtained settled status.

Moreover, Akaay doesn't automatically become a British citizen, his parents can request to register him as a British citizen.

In an Instagram post, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma shared the news of their second child's arrival. They named their baby boy 'Akaay,' meaning full moon, expressing abundant happiness and love. The couple requested blessings and privacy during this special time in their lives.
