Veteran actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha reportedly has been discharged from Mumbai's Kokilaben Ambani Hospital following his annual routine check-up. Sinha’s close family friend Pahlaj Nihalani confirmed the news to Times Now.
‘Yes, Shatru is back from the hospital. I’m overjoyed,’ Nihalani stated.
Sinha’s sons, Luv and Kussh, and his wife Poonam, reportedly brought him home. Shatrughan Sinha was hospitalised a few days after his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, married Zaheer Iqbal.
Meanwhile, Sinha addressed the rumours regarding his health and denied reports of falling off a sofa and undergoing surgery.
Speaking to Times Now/Zoom, Sinha said, ‘Arrey bhai, mujhe surgery hui aur mujhe khud nahin maloom (If I had surgery, wouldn’t I know?)’ When asked about the reason for his hospitalization, Sinha explained, ‘Just for an annual routine full-body checkup. I recommend it for everyone over 60. I’ve been traveling nonstop for my election campaigning for three months. Then, right after, my daughter got married. I'm no longer that hot-blooded, energy-driven young man who could do three shifts a day and still have the energy to party all night. I need to slow down.’
Sinha also expressed his happiness about his daughter Sonakshi's marriage. ‘It all went off well. Thanks to the Almighty, my daughter is happily married now. As for the naysayers who are not happy, I have nothing to say to them,’ he added.
Sonakshi Sinha married her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal in a private ceremony at her Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 23. Following the civil marriage, the newlyweds hosted a grand reception at Bastian, Dadar. The actress has faced significant trolling for her inter-faith marriage with Zaheer. To avoid unwarranted hate during their special occasion, the couple has even turned off comments on their wedding photos on Instagram.
Earlier, reacting to the trolls, Sinha told Times Now, ‘Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is given to her chosen groom. My daughter looks happiest with Zaheer. Unki jodi salamat rahe.’
He added, ‘44 years ago, Shatrughan Sinha married a very successful, very beautiful, very talented girl of his choice, Poonam Sinha. Now it is Sonakshi’s turn to marry the boy of her choice.’
