Ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra is all set to make his directorial debut with a biopic on iconic actor Meena Kumari. He has reportedly roped in Kriti Sanon to play the role of the late veteran actor on the silver screen.
According to a Mirchi Plus report, it has been Manish Malhotra’s long-cherished dream to recreate the magic of Meena Kumari and with his visionary direction, he aims to honour the legacy of the iconic actress and shed light on her incredible journey.
The biopic is reportedly in the scripting stage.
This film intends to pay tribute to her profound impact on the industry.
Meena Kumari starred in over 90 films in a career spanning 33 years. She died at the age of 38 years, from cirrhosis of the liver due to her alcoholism.
Meena Kumari began acting when she was four.
‘Adhuri Kahani’ (1939), ‘Pooja’ (1940), ‘Ek Hi Bhool’ (1940), and ‘Bachchon Ka Khel’ (1946) are some of her notable works.
Kriti Sanon has proved her versatility with films like 'Mimi', 'Bhediya', and 'Lukka Chuppi', among others. She was last seen in Om Raut’s controversial film ‘Adipurush’ alongside Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan.
