Actor Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram on April 8 to clarify that she does not consume beef or other red meat. The actor, who recently entered politics, dismissed the rumors as 'baseless and criticized those spreading misinformation about her, particularly Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, who claimed she had previously admitted to eating beef.
Denouncing the claims as 'shameful', she accused people of trying to damage her reputation. She stated, ‘I don’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat. It is shameful that completely baseless rumors are being spread about me. I have been advocating and promoting a yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now. Such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me, and they know that I am a proud Hindu, and nothing can ever mislead them. Jai Shri Ram.’
Last week, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar claimed that Kangana had once shared a post expressing her fondness for and consumption of beef. BJP leader Shaina NC criticized Wadettiwar's remarks, calling them baseless and highlighting what she sees as the Congress' lack of principles. She also referenced previous controversial comments made by Congress members, including MP Randeep Surjewala's remarks about Hema Malini.
In contrast, Kangana recently joined the BJP and was named as their candidate in Mandi. Discussing her decision to enter politics, Kangana stated, 'Joining politics had been on my mind for the past few years. People gave me so much success and it was time to fight for their welfare.'
She added that she needed a larger platform to address issues such as pay parity and women's empowerment, which is why she chose to align with the BJP. Kangana has been actively campaigning since becoming a political candidate.
Ranaut will next portray Indira Gandhi in her second directorial project, 'Emergency', about the 1977 Indian Emergency. She will also reunite with R. Madhavan in an yet-to-be untitled physiological thriller film.
