Filmmaker Siddharth Anand, who is currently riding high on the success of his latest film, 'Fighter', was reported to team up with Saif Ali Khan for his next venture. As per the latest media reports, the makers have also roped in Jaideep Ahlawat to play the antagonist in the film. Touted as a heist film, the upcoming thriller has been titled 'Jewel Thief'.
While the title may suggest otherwise, the Saif Ali Khan-Jaideep Ahlawat starrer does not take inspiration from Dev Anand's 1967 film 'Jewel Thief', a source close to the makers told Pinkvilla. The source further said that Robbie Grewal, known for 'RAW: Rome Akbar Walter', will be registered under Siddharth Anand's banner for the project. It said, "While the film is titled Jewel Thief, it has nothing to do with the original film starring the legendary Dev Anand. Siddharth Anand had this title registered under his banner and believes that the tile is apt for the subject of this Robbie Grewal directorial."
The upcoming film marks Saif Ali Khan's reunion with filmmaker Siddharth Anand after 16 years. Khan and Anand have previously worked together in films like 'Salaam Namaste' (2005) and 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' (2007).
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming Telugu film 'Devara', alongside Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. He appears as the antagonist in the film. As for Jaideep Ahlawat, the actor was recently seen in the critically acclaimed film 'Three of Us.' He also has 'Ulajh' headlined by Janhvi Kapoor in the pipeline.
