It’s confirmed! Madhubala biopic is happening, 'Darlings' fame Jasmeet K Reen to direct the film

The brightest star of Indian cinema, late actor Madhubala is loved and adored by many even today. Her films serve as a testament to her acting finesse and unmatched beauty. Fans will soon get a closer glimpse into the life of yesteryear’s superstar.  

Jasmeet K Reen to helm the project 

A biopic drama on the legendary actor has been confirmed. The much-anticipated biopic will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, known for Alia Bhatt and Vijay Varma starrer ‘Darlings’. The director took to Instagram and announced the big update herself. She shared a picture of a theatre with details about the film displayed on the screen. In the caption, she wrote, “ An exciting new journey with some wonderful people begins, grateful.” While the director has been finalised, there has been no announcement about the cast of the film. 

Sony Pictures backing the film 

Sony Pictures Entertainment will be producing the film in collaboration with Brewing Thoughts Private Limited and Madhubala Pictures Pvt. Limited. The production company also took to their official Instagram account to share the news and wrote, “Exciting News! We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming film honouring the legendary Madhubala, the epitome of grace and talent. Get ready to delve into the timeless charm and captivating story of one of Bollywood’s most iconic stars. Stay tuned for updates!” The post also included hashtags Madhubala Film, Bollywood Legend and Coming Soon.  

About the legendary actor  

Madhubala is one of the biggest names in the industry, who left an impeccable mark in her career with some iconic films including ‘Mughal-E-Azam', ‘Mahal’, ‘Howrah Bridge’ and ‘Kala Pani’ among others. India Cinema lost the gem in 1969 at the young age of 36.
