Actor Gulshan Devaiah, who was recently seen in the web series ‘Dahaad’, opened up about nepotism in the film industry in a recent interview and said that most people who are pointing this out, are privileged as well and they are doing it for themselves. He added that finding talent is an ‘endless process’.

‘There are some who are in powerful position who have jumped in because everyone is speaking about nepotism, they are doing it for themselves, they are not sincere about this,’ he said.
He further said that acting cannot be measured by merit, so the idea of people bagging roles on the basis of their merit is flawed.

'People expect meritocracy. The arts cannot have meritocracy because you can’t measure it. How can you expect merit? It is about majority consensus. You want majority consensus, that’s the game,' he said.

Gulshan added, 'You want them to like you because that might lead to an opportunity.'
In a previous interview, Gulshan had opened up about how he lost certain roles due to the people with 'veto power'. He said, ‘It is upsetting. I was close to getting some roles but people have veto power and I have no bitterness in my heart. Even this boycott culture is a result of that.’
