Internet is buzzing with excitement as the first look posters of director Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator 2’ were dropped by Vanity Fair. Featuring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and other actors, the posters have set the internet on fire. The much-awaited sequel to Oscar-winning film, ‘Gladiator 2’ will be released this November.
Besides Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal, rest of the posters feature Joseph Quinn, Denzel Washington and Fred Hechinger. From the posters, we get a glimpse of new generation of warriors in Rome. Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal are seen clashing in the poster.
Paul Mescal plays the character of Lucius, son of Maximus, played by Russel Crowe. He will be clashing with Pedro Pascal’s General Acacius in a tussle for power. Talking about his character, Paul told Vanity Fair, “It’s very ‘angry young man’ drama in that sense. He can seen the way Rome has kind of fallen in on itself. Rome represents all the personal neglect that he felt as a child.”
Denzel Washington’s poster has gained the maximum attention as fans reacted to his role as Macrinus. Speaking about the character, Ridley Scott said, Denzel is an arms dealer who supplies food for the armies in Europe, supplies wine and oil, makes steel, make spears, weapons, cannons, and catapults. So he is a very wealthy man. Instead of having a stable of racehorses, he has a stable of gladiators.”
‘Gladiator’ hit the theatres in 2000. The film was a big hit and even bagged the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Actor. Almost 24 years later, ‘Gladiator 2’ will be released on November 22, 2024. The sequel with the stellar star cast is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
