Bollywood movies are known for their drama, humour, thrill, music, and dance. In light of the massive popularity of several South Indian movies that were remade in Hindi, including ‘Kabir Singh’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Drishyam’ and ‘Mili’, here’s the list of Bollywood movies that have been remade in the South.


AndhaDhun (2018)      

Telugu: Maestro (2021)
Malayalam: Bhramam (2021)
Tamil: Andhagan (2022)

The black comedy thiller, directed by Sriram Raghavan, starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte. There is an unexpected twist in a visually impaired pianist’s life after he unintentionally lands at the murder scene of a former film star.

Munna Bhai MBBS (2003)

Tamil: Vasool Raja MBBS (2004)
Telugu: Shankar Dada MBBS (2004)
Kannada: Uppi Dada MBBS (2006)

The Rajkumar Hirani directorial starred Sanjay Dutt in the titular role. The National Award-winning comedy-drama also starred Gracy Singh, Jimmy Sheirgill, Arshad Warsi, Rohini Hattangadi, and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.

The film shows how Munna, a goon, sets out to fulfil his father’s dream of becoming a doctor with the help of his sidekick Circuit. He enrols himself in a medical college and drives the dean Dr. Asthana crazy.

3 Idiots (2009)                

Tamil: Nanban (2012)

Starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Madhavan, the film was adapted loosely from Chetan Bhagat's novel ‘Five Point Someone’.  Three engineering students attend one of India's premier colleges and struggle to beat its draconian system.

Shruti and Bittoo start a wedding planning enterprise called Shaadi Mubarak in Delhi. However, their professional relationship is jeopardised when Shruti falls in love with Bittoo.

Jab We Met (2007)

Tamil: Kanden Kadhalai (2009)

Imtiaz Ali’s film starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles.
It revolved around a heartbroken business tycoon Aditya who aimlessly boards a train to escape his depressing life. He meets Geet, a talkative, bubbly Punjabi girl, and gets pulled into her crazy life.
