Riding high on the success of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, Diljt Dosanjh is one of the most loved artist in India and beyond. The Punjabi singer and actor however has been facing the ire of a section since the release of the Imtiaz Ali directorial. In the latest, a Punjabi rapper Naseeb went on a tirade, targeting Diljit and lashed out at him for not wearing turban in his latest film. Punjabi rapper Naseeb launched a series of attack on Diljit in multiple Instagram stories. He hit out at the ‘Chamkila’ actor and said, “You’re not Punjab.” Responding to his controversial post, Diljit shared two Instagram stories and wished him the best for his life and career. Diljit wrote, “Sab Govind Hai. Naseeb brother, lots of love to you. May god give you and your art immense success. You’re only saying things and you’re answering them yourself. From my side, it’s just love and only love.”
The controversy began when many pointed out Diljit Dosanjh’s hairstyle in ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ and questioned the actor. Diljit, having promised to never cut his hair, became target of trolls. However, film’s director later clarified that Diljit was wearing a wig and said, “He has not sacrificed a single hair for this film.”
The period biographical drama is centered around the life of the legendary Punjabi singer, Amar Singh Chamkila, who earned the moniker 'Elvis Presley of Punjab' for his groundbreaking music in the 1980s. Diljit Dosanjh portrays the titular role, while Parineeti Chopra plays his wife, Amarjot.
