Legendary singer Bhupinder Singh passed away on Monday night. He was admitted to a Mumbai hospital due to suspected colon cancer and COVID-19-related complications, his wife Mitali Singh told PTI. In his decade-long career, he sang many classics like, 'Beeti Na Beetai Raina', 'Dil Dhoondta Hai', 'Naam Gum Jayega', 'Ek Akela Is Shaher Mein', 'Huzoor Is Kadar bhi na Itra ke Chaliye'.
Bhupinder Singh worked with several gems of the industry including Mohammed Rafi, RD Burman, Madan Mohan, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Gulzar and Bappi Lahiri. Celebrities such as actors Ajay Devgn and Shekhar Suman, singers Vishal Dadlani and Adnan Sami, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and trade analyst Taran Adarsh were among those who paid their tribute to the legend on social media.
Grieving Bhupinder Singh's death, Ajay Devgn wrote that he is 'deepy saddened' by the demise of Bhupinder ji and added that his voice brought joy to millions.
Dadlani wrote that Bhupinder was a 'voice from a gentler time.' He further added that he beautifully sang, 'NaamGumJaayega' music of which was composed by RD Burman and lyrics penned by Gulzar saab.
