Filmmaker Anil Sharma has clarified the recent controversy involving actor Nana Patekar allegedly hitting a fan seeking a selfie.
Sharma stated that the incident, circulating online, was a scene from their film "Journey."
In the clip, a boy approaches Nana for a photo, and he is seen hitting him in the back of the head.
Sharma explained that it was part of the film's narrative, shot in Banaras, and the leaked footage portrays Nana negatively.
The director urged fans to understand the context and emphasized that Nana did not hit anyone in reality.
The video, reportedly from the Varanasi set of "Journey," depicts Nana dressed in a suit and hat preparing for a scene. As a fan approaches for a selfie, Nana visibly reacts by hitting him, and another person intervenes, grabbing the fan by the neck and leading him away.
Social media saw a mix of reactions, with some criticizing Nana for his response. A user humorously remarked, "Taking selfies with Nana could be injurious to health," while another questioned the need for physical aggression when a simple refusal would suffice.
Anil Sharma's clarification sheds light on the misunderstanding, emphasizing the importance of considering the context in which such incidents occur.
The incident, initially criticized on social media, now stands explained as a scene from a film rather than a real-life altercation involving Nana Patekar.
