The makers of 'Amar Singh Chamkila' have released a new song titled 'Tu Kya Jaane' from the upcoming film. Featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles, the Imtiaz Ali directorial is slated to release on Netflix on April 12. The new track offers a glimpse into the heartwarming chemistry of the main protagonists.
'Tu Kya Jaane', sung by Yashika Sikka, is a melodious track that celebrates old-school love. Composed by Irshad Kamil, the song has been penned by Irshad Kamil. The music video opens with Diljit's Chamkila playing his harmonium while Parineeti, who plays the role of Amarjot Kaur, gets coy around him. The viewers are then transported to their musical world, where Kaur looks completely smitten by Chamkila, finding it difficult to take her eyes off of him.
Sharing the post, Imtiaz Ali wrote, “There's something about pehle zamaane ka pyaar, isn't it? And vintage melodies! A new song, ‘Tu Kya Jaane,' is coming today! Best wishes.”
Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1980s Punjab, 'Amar Singh Chamkila' dives deep into the life of Chamkila, who rose from obscurity to become the "highest record-selling artist" of Punjab.
In an interview with IndianExpress.com, Imtiaz Ali said that the film is a love story between Chamkila and his music album. He said, “I feel that this film, or Chamkila's life in a way, is a love story between Chamkila and music. Here is a man who was so scared at some point of time about the warnings that he got that he actually broke down and cried, and he was scared that he would be killed. From that point, a few years later, knowing fully well that if he continued to sing in live performances, he might be gunned down, he still chose to sing."
