Aamir Khan has become the latest victim of a deepfake video case as a political ad featuring him went viral days ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Acting upon the case, Bollywood actor’s team has clarified and lodged an FIR.
The Bollywood actor and filmmaker was targeted by a deepfake video as he was featured in a fake political ad linked to a specific political party. Aamir Khan’s team has come forward and clarified that the ad video is fake, and he has not endorsed any political party. The statement read, “We want to clarify that Mr. Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. He has dedicated his efforts to raising public awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections. We are alarmed by the recent viral video alleging that Aamir Khan is promoting a particular political party. He would like to clarify that this is a fake video and totally untrue. He has reported the matter to various authorities related to this issue, including filing an FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police. Mr. Khan would like to urge all Indians to come out and vote and be an active part of our electoral process.”
On the professional front, the actor has been missing from the screen for a while. He was last seen in ‘Laal Singh Chadha’ and has been busy producing and promoting films under his banner. Mr Perfectionist, however, is all set to make his comeback with ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ and Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Lahore: 1947’. The actor has reportedly begun shooting for his film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ from February.
