New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) Bollywood luminary Anil Kapoor recently reflected on the 25th anniversary of his acclaimed film "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai," revealing that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan almost opted out of the project in the eleventh hour. Released on August 24, 2000, this memorable film was directed by the late, esteemed actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik.

Kapoor took to Instagram to share a collage of behind-the-scenes photos from the filming process, coupled with a heartfelt message. The 68-year-old actor fondly reminisced about his "dearest friend" Kaushik and recounted the intriguing story of how Bachchan was cast in the film.

Recalling his collaboration with Bachchan in the 1999 musical romance "Taal," Kapoor suggested her name for the role. "Looking back at 'Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai' as it completes 25 years, my heart is filled with memories of my dearest friend Satish Kaushik. I still remember how Aishwarya became a part of this special journey," he noted. Initially, there were reservations, but Kaushik was convinced of Bachchan's fit for the role after seeing her potential on set. "The rest, as they say, is history," Kapoor added.

Nevertheless, just as filming was about to commence, Bachchan experienced some reservations and almost stepped away from the project. Kapoor recalled visiting her home with Kaushik to discuss her concerns, leading to her decision to reaffirm her involvement. "Ironically, just before shooting began, Aishwarya had some concerns and almost stepped away. Satish and I went to her home, had a heartfelt conversation, and thankfully, she decided to stay on board. And I'm so glad she did, because her performance was phenomenal and the film went on to become a super hit, loved by both the trade and audience," Kapoor shared.

The actor concluded his reflection by expressing, "Grateful for the memories, the magic we created, and for my friend Satish, whom I miss dearly every day. #HamaraDilAapkePaasHai."

The film's narrative follows Preeti, played by Bachchan, who testifies against Bhavani Choudhry (Mukesh Rishi) after a harrowing event. Following her subsequent ostracization from her family, Avinash (Kapoor) offers her shelter. The film's ensemble cast includes notable talents such as Sonali Bendre and Anupam Kher. PTI ATR ATR ATR
