In a candid conversation on Jay Shetty's podcast, renowned Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt recently shared her journey of being diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety.
She revealed that while she isn't on medication, she is actively working on managing her condition.
During the interview, Alia opened up about the challenges she faced prior to her diagnosis. "I was recently clinically diagnosed with it. It wasn't just about having an anxious day anymore,"
she explained. "I was finding it hard—my body would heat up at social gatherings, and I struggled to focus on certain things."
To better understand her condition, Alia opted for a thorough professional evaluation over three days. The diagnosis of ADHD and anxiety, instead of being daunting, brought her a sense of relief. "Strangely, I felt happy.
It provided me with information. I’m always seeking clarity, and this diagnosis gave me that," she stated, adding that being aware of her conditions made managing them simpler.
Interestingly, Alia has chosen not to pursue medication. "Although I can be [on medication], I choose not to.
I am just actively working on it to get through it," she affirmed, expressing confidence in her ability to manage the symptoms effectively.
For those unfamiliar, ADHD, or Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder, particularly in children.
It often involves symptoms such as forgetfulness, being easily distracted, difficulty organizing tasks, trouble concentrating, and challenges in completing tasks. These insights into Alia's personal experience shed light on the ongoing journey of self-discovery and management of ADHD and anxiety.
