New Delhi, Nov 3 (PTI) – The much-anticipated film "Ikkis," led by actor Agastya Nanda, is slated for a theatrical release on December 25, as announced by the filmmakers on Monday.

Produced under Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, this film marks another promising collaboration with director Sriram Raghavan. The screenplay is a collaborative effort by Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, and Pooja Ladha Surti.

The announcement came via Instagram, showcasing the film's poster adorned with the release date, exciting fans and cinephiles alike.

The caption read, "On 25th December, bravery marches into cinemas. Witness the untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra hero. #IkkisTrailerOutNow - Link in bio. #Ikkis in cinemas worldwide this Christmas."

Agastya Nanda, who entered the acting arena in 2023 with Zoya Akhtar's directorial venture "The Archies," returns to the screen to narrate an inspiring tale. "The Archies," which debuted on Netflix, was an Indian rendition of the beloved "Archie Comics," featuring Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Mihir Ahuja among its cast.

In "Ikkis," the 24-year-old Nanda essays the poignant role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was martyred in the Battle of Basantar during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. His valor and ultimate sacrifice were honored with the posthumous award of the Param Vir Chakra, marking him as the youngest recipient of India's highest military distinction at that time.

Adding to the film's appeal, veteran actor Dharmendra, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher, enriches the narrative with their performances.
