Elon Musk, the world’s second richest man with an estimated net worth exceeding $160 billion, has shed almost all of his substantial real estate empire. He now chooses to live in a tiny, prefabricated energy efficient rented house, which costs less than his mogul's beloved Tesla Model S.

The house, built by Boxabl, an organisation making instant, is a transportable 20 x 20 unit which offers approximately 400 square feet. Unlike other tiny houses, Boxabls have a unique, flat-pack design that allows them to break down to 8.5 feet in width and can be delivered on site via truck, train, air or ship.

The main materials used for the house are steel, concrete and EPS foam, specifically chosen for their durability. That's because they don’t degrade like other building materials, so the structures are built to last a lifetime.

Not only are Boxabl homes rated for hurricane-strength winds, but because there isn’t any wood or sheet rock that could be damaged by water, the homes won’t grow mold or deteriorate due to moisture from floods either.

The nascent company, which was only founded in 2017, has attracted the attention of many potential customers. The tiny modular houses have a wait list of 47,000 customers, and over 2,000 customers have even made deposits for their own tiny homes.
