Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to attend a public meeting in West Bengal's Jagaddal on May 12. However, even before the meeting could start, a war of words ensued between the TMC and the BJP over the site where Modi is scheduled to address.

TMC MLA Somenath Shyam told ANI news agency, "The ground has not been dug up but is being levelled. Garbage is being removed and this is being converted into training ground - youth who train for defence services had sent us application to level that ground and it made it difficult for them to run."

"For 15 years, the place had a pile of garbage. The MP himself had allowed this mountain of garbage to come up. The garbage is being removed and this is being converted into a training ground," MLA Somenath Shyam further clarified.

BJP MP Arjun Singh reacted to this news and said that TMC administration has dug up the ground and it is sign of a petty mindset.

Arjun Singh further told ANI news agency, "Mamata Banerjee is nervous. BJP is winning 35 seats, including Barrackpore, in West Bengal. That is why, this is being done...We will get the ground redone."
