Karnataka election: BJP announces 189 names in first list

Ahead of the crucial assembly polls, The BJP has dropped several MLAs and chosen as many as 52 new candidates in the first list announced for the May 10 assembly polls in Karnataka.

Many Congress turncoats have also made it to the first list of 189 names announced on 11 April.

Selection of candiates has been made to bring in a new generation leadership and fresh ideas, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, said addressing the press conference in New Delhi. 

While Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be contesting from Shiggaon, former CM B S Yediyurappa’s son Vijayendra will be contesting from the Shikaripura constituency.
