xThe Aam Aadmi Party has won the Delhi municipal corporation election, cementing its place in the national capital, and giving the party some elbow room as it grapples with the BJP-led Central government over governance issues in Delhi.

But AAP's victory is not as comprehensive as its performance in the Delhi Assembly elections has been.

The MCD elections can be seen as a vote of confidence in the Delhi government's record on basic amenities, which was its main campaign message.

Interestingly, the party's vote share is higher than the last MCD elections in 2017, but lower than Delhi Assembly elections in 2020. This means that while the party enjoys overwhelming support in the Assembly, its growth at the local level is still slow.
