The Enforcement Directorate (ED) early Friday conducted searches at former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's residence in Nagpur in money laundering case. Deshmukh is facing allegations of corruption and misconduct.
This comes a day after the ED recorded the statement of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Raju Bhujbal in the case.
The senior NCP leader had quit his post after former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, levelling allegations of corruption against him. Singh claimed Deshmukh used to ask police officers to collect money from restaurant and bar owners of Mumbai.
Following the allegations, the CBI conducted a preliminary inquiry and registered an FIR against him.
